Muffin Tin Monday

This weeks Muffin Tin Monday was a Choose Your Own Theme week.

Ours is 2 themes in 1! The letter Ff for fruit and Cooking with kids.

As you know, I LOVE to cook with kids!! It provides so much math, science, conversation, and practical life skills all in one activity.
While making fruit kabobs may not actually be cooking, preparing food is a big part of cooking. Since we made these as a side dish last night, the kabobs were a big part of our dinner and the kiddos were very proud that they got to help make dinner.

The things I love about letting the kids make kabobs (we do this often) is that there is fine motor skills involved to get the food on the stick, patterning can be done (Aidman loves to makes patterns with his food), and it is instant gratification for hungry kiddos.

The thing I love about letting them use the muffin tin to do this is that it gives them there own work space. They each have one tray as opposed to having 6 different bowls on the table for them to reach for and fight over. Muffin tins can be used for TONS of different learning activities to give each child their own work space, for example: painting, counting, spooning, etc.

The kabobs look YUMMY!!
