Juggling Muffin Tin Monday

Today's theme for Muffin Tin Monday is the Circus. We decided to stick with one act of the circus show... the juggling act. We have a Juggler (peanut butter bread with raisin eyes and icing mouth), plates (carrots), balls (blueberries), bowling pins (marshmallows on a toothpick with icing lines), rings (cucumbers), sticks of fire (string cheese with peperoni).

First we watched this awesome Juggling video on youtube. It was really fun and the kids LOVED watching it and wanted to do so over and over.

Then we all practiced juggling.

Then we got down to business and started playing with our food. I gave them each a plate and they let their juggler start his show!

They ate every bit of it and had a GREAT time with this muffin tin Monday!

Banana Box Race Cars

Today we had a playdate to show everyone how to make these awesome race car boxes because everyone loved them so much at Aidman's birthday party.

We take a regular ole banana box (that I get free at the local grocery store). I cut the center hole alittle bigger and add handles to the sides.

I like to paint them white first because it makes the paint stand out better. Kinda like priming the box.

Decorate to your liking.

And you have an awesome race box!

These boxes show alittle better how I cut them (on top and between the holes on the sides).

Then start racing.

As you can see, for the party I had put on rope for the kids to put over their shoulders. I noticed that the kids had a hard time with them and it just worked much better with them only holding onto the handles.

See what everyone else has been up to at We made it Friday Showcase hosted by Ramblings of a Crazy Woman.

Open Ended Art ~ Yellow Coloring

This weeks theme for open ended art at Teaching My Little Bookworm is yellow coloring. I kind of just set out the crayons and hoped that the kiddos would color with yellow. To my joy, they did!

The girls both really liked trying out these new color wheels that we got for FREE at a local grocery store.

Aidman made this awesome jellyfish and snail.

People MTM

Today's Muffin Tin Monday theme is people/faces. So we have had a day filled with people.

We decided to made a big pizza face. I put the ingredients in the muffin tin: sauce, cheese, peperoni, and olives.

The kiddos made a big face on the pizza.

Looks pretty cute.

I thought a dessert would be nice too. I had intended to make cookies for them to decorate, but never got around to it. So they had dessert bagels: half a bagel, marshmallows, plum slices, strawberry cream cheese, chocolate chips, coconut.

They LOVED these!

I have no idea how it worked out this way, but we had an all about my body playdate to go to this morning. We made these really cute body silhouettes. I love the parts of the body stickers.

Saturday Picture Surprise- March 08

I found this new blog carnival today through Funny Days with Mommy and Maddie today. It is Saturday Picture Surprise hosted by From Pigpen To Paradise. The point of this carnival is to look back thorough all those photo files stored on your computer (that you never get a chance to look at) and spend a few minutes reminiscing. I'm very lucky because my computers screen saver shows random pictures and I LOVE looking at them, but it is so quick and random that sometimes I don't know what the pictures are from. So I am really going to enjoy participating in this.

This weeks Picture Surprise is March 08 picture 56. I actually didn't have a March 08 folder because I was between cameras at that time, so here is the last picture in my February folder.

Lyssy had just turned 2. She was playing in our back yard on one of the swings. I love her little pigtails.

Cooking like Crazy!

The kiddos have been in the kitchen alot this week! They love to help out with making meals and snacks. I think that having them involved in making/preparing food helps them to want to try more new things and keeps them eating pretty healthy.

Lyssy and Laneybug snapped all the greenbeans for me. Not only are they doing a great life skill here, but they are also really working their fine motor skills.

They also made a GREAT batch of trail mix.

I've never actually followed a trail mix recipe, we just throw whatever we have in the cabinet in it.

Today we had marshmallows, choc chips, banana chips, dehydrated papaya and pineapple, raisins, goldfish, nuts, and fried peas.

We also made applesauce. They couldn't really peel or slice the apples, but they could eat the peel!

Somehow I left out the picture where they mashed the cooked apples with a potato masher, that was their very favorite part!

Yummy! This applesauce was SO good!

See what other kiddos have been doing in their kitchens this week at A Little Fun with Me and Lu.

Open Ended Art

Teaching my Little Bookworms theme for this weeks open ended art was mixed mediums. I decided to use this theme as another little catch up session (don't know why I haven't been able to stay on top of doing these, but I WILL get better!).

We painted/printed using corn cobs. After picking 20 ears of corn at Gran Gran's, I've been using it like crazy and knew these would make a fun painting tool once the corn was off. The kiddos thought it was so funny to paint with these.

They painted with red and yellow paint which mixed together to make orange. Painting with corn cobs is messy work!

After the painting dried we decided to make it into a collage. I gave them yellow crayons, markers, bingo dobbers, rollits, and anything yellow from my craft closet that could be glued on.

They had alot of fun doing this and because I wasn't involved I got the kitchen cleaned. I love sticking close by when they are doing art work because I LOVE some of the conversations they have during it. Having Laneybug here really added to that conversation.

And this is the beautiful finished product! Hopely next time we won't have to be playing catch up.

Rain Rain Stay Awhile

We were sitting at the table eating snack and talking about what everyone wanted to do this week when it started raining. Laneybug said "oh, we could dance in the rain when it's not thundering and lightning". I looked out the door and saw that it wasn't thundering or lightning so I told the kids they could go right then. They were SO excited and surprised!

They did more running than dancing, but they loved every single minute of it. Sadly, it only rained for about 15 minutes. As soon as it was over they started singing "rain rain come again", it was really cute.

I love the simple sweet joys of childhood.

Muffin Tin Monday

We have a packed house this week! I am keeping my niece Laneybug while my sister Sherryberry is on her honeymoon in the Keys, as always I am also babysitting AB, and of course I have my 2 kiddos Aidman and Lyssy.

Since I just got back from vacation, I didn't have much in the fridge except for what we brought back with us from the garden. Today there is no theme for muffin tin Monday, so we decided to have a fruity breakfast in our tin.

We had blackberries, grapes, blueberries, cashews, yogurt, and apples.

Since I didn't have enough regular tins to go around, Lyssy got to use her special heart tin.
