My Budding Entrepreneur

The other day I woke up with a dollar in my face. Aidman has had this dollar for about a year now and wanted to know if he could buy something.

Me: "sure, what do you want to buy?"
Aidman: "a turtle"
M: "oh, well Aidman, I think you are going to need more than one dollar to buy a turtle."
A: "how many dollars?"
M: "I don't really know, we'll have to go to the pet store to find out, but it will be at least 20 dollars."
A: "well, Daddy has a lot of dollars so he can give them to me."
M: "no Aidman. Daddy needs his money to buy the groceries and pay for our house. You will have to earn your own money if you want to buy a turtle."
A: "what's earn?"
M: "you know how Daddy fixes computers and peolple give him money when he does that. And mommy teaches kids and I get money for doing that. You can do something to get money. Maybe you can do some stuff around the house for mommy and I will give you some money for it. We can make you a chore chart today."
A: "well, how about I paint paintings and people can buy them from me?"
M: " I guess you could try that too. Who is going to buy your paintings?
A: " my grandmas and grandpas"

HAHAHAHA the boy is a GENIUS!!!

So the boy spent most of the morning calling relatives and then painting pictures for them. He charged a dollar per painting. So far he has made 19 paintings/drawings.

Playing IS Learning

I LOVE LOVE LOVE to walk in on my children to see learning in action.

Here Aidman brought me all his baseball cards that he sorted by looking at the pictures. I LOVED his categories: hitting a baseball, pitcher, catcher, and just a picture.

Here Aidman sorted a bunch of his cars into different groups.

As you can see, Aidman really likes to sort things. It does give you insight to his personality, everything has to be the way it's supposed to be with him.

See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil

Today's Saturday Picture Surprise hosted by Pigpen to Paradise is July 2007 picture 16.

I AM one of those mamas.... ya know, the one that LOVES to get pictures of her kiddos crying! Lyssy was 1 1/2 here. I was trying to compile a photo shoot for some cool scrapbook paper I had found. After a while she wasn't having it any more.

The photo shoot was...

Super Mario Cart Party Decor

Today we had Aidman, EE, and EP's GIANT birthday party. I have several friends who all invite the same group of friends (plus family members) to our birthday parties. Instead of having 3 different parties to take up 3 weekends, we decided to combine them and just have one really big blowout! The boys all had their birthdays in the same week (Aidman's is this Tues) and turn 5, 5, and 6. They all like Mario so we decided to have a Mario Cart party.

We made a great obstacle course around the perimeter of the yard. Above is the finish line.

We got palates for the kids to run on. They really liked this.

There were cones to run around.

Pools to wade through or run around.

Pool noodles (held up by chop sticks) with a sprinkler at the end to run through.

Turtle shell (sand box lids) to step over.

A swinging tire swing to run around. The three boxes standing are stations where water squirters and water balloons were set up for nonracers to throw and squirt at the kids.

A mushroom farm to run around. It's a punching bag with a cardboard shaped like a mushroom on top.

Outside of the obstacle course, we also had a big inflatable slide, a trampoline, sand box filled with coins to find, and a swing set to play on. Needless to say, there was TONS for the kids to do!

We decorated the whole yard with flags/pendants and I made some saying Happy Birthday Aidman, EE, and EP.

I made these really CUTE piranha plant center pieces.

We found these great Mario Cart window decals.

Oh and so that they would have carts to race in, we made these GREAT banana box race cars. We even painted them to look like the actual characters cars.

It was a wonderful party!! I'll post pictures of the actual party fun later.

My Little Fish!

I'm so PROUD of my little swimmer. After just 2 weeks of ISR training, he is completely swimming on his own! He can even save himself if he falls in the pool wearing winter clothing (he was tested this way). I HIGHLY recommend doing ISR with your children!! Lyssy starts her training in about 2 weeks.

He is even brave enough to jump off the diving board.

Splash Day and Last Day of PreSchool

Today was Aidman's last day of preschool for the year, so they had a water splash day to celebrate.

He loved the slip and slide.

He thought he looked like a snowman with shaving cream all over himself.

He was full of smiles and just LOVED this day!

Aidman has had a GREAT year of preschool! His teachers have been so thoughtful and have helped to make some wonderful memories.

Trophy!!

Aidman woke me up at 7:15 this morning, fully dressed. He tapped me on the shoulder (to wake me up) and said "it's trophy day mom". He has been so excited about this day!!

YAY!! He finally has his baseball trophy.

Here he is with Coach Kelly.

The coaches made these cute stars to hang in the dugout so they would know where to sit. Since the season is over, they got to bring the stars home.

He is so happy!!

Mother's Day Brunch

Today I went to a Mother's Day brunch at Aidman's school. I am such a sentimental fool, I could NOT hold back the tears.

Each mom had a table setting.

Aidman painted this beautiful frame. That is such a great picture of him!

Here is the sweet place mat. It says...
Sometimes I might upset you
Because I am so small
And always leave my fingerprints
On Furniture and walls.
But everyday I grow a bit
And soon I'll be so tall
That all those little fingerprints
Will be so hard to recall
So here's a special hand print
Just so that you can say
This is how my fingers looked
When I placed them here today.

The kids served the mommies food.

You can always tell Aidman is concentration because his tongue is sticking out.

Then the kids sang some beautiful songs.

Then the teacher's read aloud an interview of the child about the mama. Here is what Aidman said...
My Perfect Mommy
My Mommy's eyes are blue
And Brown is the color of her hair,
Her favorite food is McDonalds
Which she won't always share!
She has a very loud laugh
Cooking is what she loves to do
I know that giving her a hug
Cheers her when she's feeling blue.
Her special name is Brandy
And purple is her favorite color
God made this special lady just for me
We are perfect for each other.

Then they brought us a gift.

It's a beautiful jewelry box.

With candy inside! It says...
This is a very special box, as you can see.
The reason it's so special it's just for you from me.
It's filled with lots of kisses
as sweet as sweet can be.
Just hold the box close to your heart,
and you'll always think of me.

Yep, I can't event get through with this post without crying. It's just so sweet and I LOVE being a mommy SO much!!
This LONG winded post is week 6 of 52 weeks of capturing mom in pictures at Forever in Blue Jeans.
