Recycled Robots

Last night I asked the kiddos what they wanted to learn about today and Aidman shouted "Robots". I have no idea where that idea came from, but I decided to roll with it.

This morning we watched several how it's made and youtube videos of all different types of robots. We talked about what robots are used for and how they all do different types of things. They kids were fascinated!

Then we decided to make our own robots. I set out different size boxes and canisters that I have been saving, buttons, google eyes, wood pieces, etc.

And they got to work. They choose the items and placed them where they should go and I hot glued it for them so that everything would stay in place better. They used school glue to attach buttons, eyes, etc.

Aidman's robot is made to help clean house! Notice the clothes pins that he added as hands to pick things up. This is a boy after his mother's heart!!

Lyssy made a climbing robot.

AB also made a climbing robot.

They have been playing with these robots all day and it has really sparked some GREAT imaginative play!!

BTW... ABC & 123: A Learning Cooperative is hosting a children's giveaway sponsored by AllChildrensFurniture.com, who carries everything from kids chairs to toys. Giveaway ends September 6th!
