Open Ended Art

I've really been wanting to participate in Teaching My Little Bookworm's Open Ended Art, so I'm playing a bit of catch up this week.

Today's challenge was a Yellow Collage. I am cheating just a bit on this one because it's more cream than yellow, BUT this is a display of my very FAVORITE type of open ended art so I just had to add it. I was off cleaning something, Aidman was in the kitchen with a box of art supplies that consisted of paper, scissors, glue, buttons, sequins, feathers, etc. He decided he wanted to make a person and he did. When he finished he ran to me to show me what he made!! He was very proud of what he did and so was I! Why is this my favorite type of open ended art you ask... it's because I didn't even ask them to go to the table, I wasn't even around, he did is entirely on his own.

I set out a bunch of yellow items, but they weren't so interested in that today, so I'll update my post with a true yellow collage when they decided they are in the mood to do it. I'm sure the art table will pull them into it's charm in the next day or two because I want them to do more stuff/art entirely on their own without me prompting them to do it.

For catch up, last week was yellow paint. Aidman wanted to use his new race car sponges that he got for his B-day. At first Aidman did NOT want the two colors mixed, but the 2 three yo girls had different plans and in the end he really liked that the blue and yellow made his favorite color green.

Another catch up, a couple weeks ago was tissue paper. I gave them glue, tissue paper, and a baby food jar and they had at it. They both have different ideas of what it will be used for.

I LOVE the person collage! That is the sweetest and cutest I've seen:-)!

What did they think of the tissue paper/jar craft? We did that back for 4th of July and loved it!!

What do they want to use the jars for?

LOL on the tissue and jars, but the rest of the projects are great. I am very impressed with that paint job, and the little person made out of different things is extremely creative. Aidman is quite an artist already!

What a great little person he made - I love it! And I really like the painting too - it turned out very pretty. I think it's so good that they are doing these things on their own. My LO draws and colors a lot on his own, but other artsy things are usually planned activities. He does sometimes ask to paint (usually at very inconvenient times, lol). I really need to put together a little art center for him like you have done for your kids. Thanks for sharing!
