Muffin Tin Monday

Today for Muffin Tin Monday there was no theme. Normally, on no theme days I just throw whatever I happen to have into the tin and call it Muffin Tin Monday. Actually, even when there is a theme, I almost never plan ahead, at least not enough to make a special shopping trip for it. But today, I was searching MTM archives so that I can actually pick up certain things at the store for next weeks copy cat theme, since I'll have to copy someone and may not have in my fridge what they have.



While I was doing my search I found a TON of things that I wanted to do, and of course was having a hard time deciding which one to pick. THEN, I saw the royalty theme and on it was this really yummy looking potato. Ummmmmm... I'm kinda in the mood for a baked potato. OH, I have potatoes that REALLY need to be used. Oh, let's make that today! So that set into action a precopy cat tin!





First I let the kiddos make crowns.

Then they played a game of princess memory.

Then it was time for the royal precopy cat muffin cup meal!

I copied The Sound You Hear Is Living. Much to my hurriedness and dismay, I did not read her post, just looked at it on MTM and said oh I can do that. I wish I would have read it and followed her King Athur story.

The kids LOVED it!!

It does help that they really do love baked potatoes. Oh, I also added steamed broccoli to mine...

Free Week

Just wanted to let you know that we will be taking a break from the letter of the week activities this week. It's gonna be such a busy week and we just need to give ourselves a break from something. But, we'll still be posting what we are up to....

Aiman's got swimming lessons every day this week. He is on the verge of swimming all by himself, but I'm not a very strong swimmer and don't want to teach him wrong. So I'm taking him to my friend (an ISR instructor) who is sure that it will only take him a week (2 at the very most) to swim entirely on his own. We are both REALLY excited about this!

We have several playdates to go to.

We want to get something made for Father's Day.

And if we still have time left over, I want to try out some activities on PBS Kids with them.

We'll be back with the letter Ss then week.

Arts & Crafts Table Talk

We LOVE LOVE LOVE Arts and Crafts!!! Today's Picnic Table Talk at Abc & 123 is all about arts and crafts, go check it out!

Both of my kids love to paint and cut and ask to do so often. My favorite art for them to do is to draw, I just love to see what their little minds come up with.

At all times, I keep out a journal for each child plus some type of writing utensil (markers, crayons, colored pencils, etc.). I think EVERY child should have constant access to paper and crayons. I love to look through their journals to see what they've done while I wasn't looking. Above is Hulk, Aidman made him today and then wanted to know how to spell his name. The entire time he drew he sang "Hulk Smashing" in a deep and loud voice.

Lyssy has been practicing drawing people and has a journal full of these little guys.

I also love crafts that the kiddos ask for by name. On this day they wanted to make a butterfly and told me what they needed from the craft closet in order to accomplish it. You can see how we made them here.

Dots

Last night Jon and Kate Plus 8 was on as my Background Noise. I just happened to look at the tv to see the kiddos using Do A Dot's to write their names. Kate was saying how it's good for prewritting skills.

I have these awesome Do A Dot's and have never thought to do this with my kiddos. They normally just love use them as a free art. Kate's reasoning made alot of sense to me so I decided we'd give it a try when we had a free moment.

This evening while I was cooking dinner the kiddos needed something to do so I gave them each a piece of paper with the letter Ll on it and a Bingo Dobber (as we call them).

Lyssy LOVED it and wanted to do more, so I gave her a paper with her name on it.

It was a fun, easy, and educational activity to occupy them while I was cooking.

Lemons, Lemons, Lemons!

Today we tasted lemons and limes.

Lyssy and AB liked lemons the best and Aidman liked limes best.

Then we juiced some lemons to make lemonade.

We thought it was very yummy, but Daddy thought it was too sour.

Then we painted with the left over lemon and lime rinds.

My house smells so fresh now!

6 Unimportant Things That Make Me Happy

Superheroes and Princesses tagged me to play along in 6 unimportant things that make me happy.

1. So You Think You Can Dance: I love this stupid show!! It's one of the few shows that I actually watch, but I love it and can't miss a week!

2. The beach on a sunny day: there is just nothing better than playing in the water on a hot day.

3. Ice Cream: really, just chocolate ice cream... any kind of chocolate!!

4. Background noise: Music during the day, any kind including kids music, but my favorite is Contemporary Christian. TV (that I don't watch because I'm on the computer) at night after the kids are in bed. Weird that I always like noise, huh?

5. Rainbows: seriously, I'm obsessed. I must be outside when their is a rainbow out, whether it's still raining or not. I even take a thousand pictures of them. They are just so beautiful!!

6. Muffin Tin Monday: yeah I said it! I just love the joy it gives my kids!! And it makes me happy to get creative and cute with it.

Lace Ll's

Today we glued Lace onto Ll's.

It's always fun to touch different types of fabric and get to glue it on paper.

Numbers MTM

The theme for today's Muffin Tin Monday is Numbers. We decided we would do alittle counting and number recognition practice. I put a pile of numbered cards on the table and told each child to get a certain color.

Then they had to count each food item and put the correct number card in the muffin cup.

This activity was too easy for Aidman (would have been better with higher numbers for him), but was perfect practice for both of the girls who just turned 3.

We had 1 carrot, 2 oranges, 3 slices grilled cheese, 4 sugar snap peas, 5 gummie bears, and 6 peanuts. It was a yummy lunch!

A Funfilled Weekend!

My niece Laneybug had her 6th Birthday this week, so yesterday we went to her party.




The kiddos had a great time playing on Laneybugs new swing set.

Then everyone got into the bounce house.

Aunt Sherryberry and Aidman jumped together.

Daddy and Lyssy jumped around.

Granny and I decided that this was hard work and great exercise.

Grandaddy wrestled with all the kiddos.

After the party was over, Laneybug got out her new slip and slid and the kiddos played more.

Today we went to the beach with Granny, Papa, and Aunt Brit.

We had a great time building this awesome sand castle.

It was a really fun weekend!!

Tea Time Thursday

Today for our Tea Time Thursday with On a Whimm we had a veggie platter to go with our veggie teapot. We ate cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, sugar snap peas, carrots, broccoli, green bell peppers, cantaloupe, watermelon, crackers, peanuts, and peach tea.

Lyssy only likes sugar snap peas when she can dip them in something.

Aidman LOVES tomatoes and ate most of them.

LOOK!! We ate almost everything!!! I pretty much knew they wouldn't touch the bell peppers, but I had to try them.

It was a great lunch and they were so happy to have a tea party with it!!
